Congratulations, Katie!

We would like to congratulate our Senior Associate, Katie Kelly, on her 5th anniversary with TEN x TEN!
Since joining the TxT team in 2019, Katie has played an integral role in many projects, including the Minneapolis College of Art and Design Campus Plan, and the award-winning Indian Mounds Cultural Landscape Study + Messaging Plan and Juxtaposition Arts Campus. She was recently promoted to Senior Associate, all while becoming a new mom this past April- an admirable accomplishment!
Driven to make with purpose and with others, Katie most values work that is cross-disciplinary, collaborative, and inclusive. Her approach to design always holds these values, building meaningful and trusted relationships with stakeholders, clients, and collaborators, and seeing opportunity in the complexity of public and institutional projects both big and small.
She believes the power of landscapes lies in how people engage with each other differently in response to spatial design, and this exchange of people and place is what motivates her to continue this work.
Katie has shared her favorite parts of working for TxT, along with some other fun facts:
The projects and the people! I love getting to work with hard-working and goofy people who care deeply about what they do. Geeking out about plants, road trips to stone quarries, intense debates about font—I appreciate how much the day-to-day work is fun in addition to meaningful and challenging.
What inspired you to pursue landscape architecture as a career? Lenny Mirin’s History of American Landscape Architecture course at Cornell. I took it in my last semester of undergrad and was like “ohhh, this is it!”
What is your favorite thing about the Twin Cities? It’s a three-way tie between winter activities, the Mississippi, and fried cheese curds.
What is the best book you’ve read recently? Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokaczuk, love an unreliable narrator. -.-
Thank you for all you do, Katie, and we’re so grateful to have you with us!
