2024 WAN Americas Award Winner in Infrastructure: Treetop Trail at the Minnesota Zoo

We are happy to share that the Treetop Trail at the Minnesota Zoo has received a 2024 WAN Americas Award in Infrastructure!

The Treetop Trail has converted a defunct monorail system at the Minnesota Zoo into a 1.25 mile elevated, fully accessible walking trail through the 485 acre grounds. Successfully reusing much of the steel and concrete infrastructure of the decommissioned monorail, it allows visitors to immerse themselves in nature, providing multiple access points and rest areas as well as interpretative elements that frame powerful views of the surrounding forested landscape and animal habitats.

The WAN Awards Americas judging panel praised its "warmth" and "elegance" and singled out its successful integration with the natural setting…
