Hi, I’m Maura!

I balance a rigorous approach to leadership and design innovation with a conceptual sensibility rooted in process. My leadership approach is grounded in listening, questioning, and experimentation, allowing my work to translate experiences into landscapes through spatializing stories and activating the senses.

My approach to designing landscapes grew from a lifelong fascination with ecologies, rocks, time, and art. Before finding landscape architecture, I utilized printmaking and papermaking techniques to cultivate micro landscapes of mold and to observe deterioration over time. This ingrained passion for analog forms of thinking and making continues to guide my approach to designing landscapes.

When I am not at work you can find me biking, cross country skiing, reading, drawing, or exploring with my family. I love traveling and paddling through the north woods and lakes of Minnesota. My favorite trees are oak trees; stubborn, strong, and slow growing.

Favorite Tree: Oak tree, Quercus
